Global Influence and Philanthropy

  • Mistaken Idea of Denouncing Pleasure:
The idea that pleasure should be rejected and pain should be praised is a misunderstanding. People naturally seek pleasure, and it is not inherently bad. The problem arises when pleasure is pursued without thinking about the consequences, which may lead to pain.

  • Rational Pursuit of Pleasure:
Pleasure is good, but it should be pursued rationally. When pursued intelligently, pleasure brings happiness, and avoiding pain can also lead to long-term benefits. For example, exercise may be painful, but it leads to health and well-being, which is pleasurable.

  • Pain as a Means to Greater Pleasure:
Pain is not inherently bad either. Sometimes, enduring pain leads to a greater benefit or pleasure. People may avoid unnecessary pain, but when pain is a means to a positive end, it is worth pursuing.

  • Moral Responsibility:
Individuals are morally responsible for their choices. Those who pursue immediate pleasure without considering long-term effects are at fault. Likewise, those who avoid necessary challenges due to weakness are equally responsible for their failure.
